The Indian stock market opened on a buoyant note on positive global cues.
It then shrugged off a couple of mid-session setbacks, but ended flat following a sell-off during the fag end of the session.
The Sensex ended at 18,539.13 (provisional) with a gain of 19.69 points or 0.11%.
The Nifty closed at 5470.05, down 1.30 points or 0.02%.
Power, healthcare, information technology and metal stocks had a fairly good outing.
Select FMCG stocks posted solid gains.
Automobile and consumer durables stocks turned in a mixed performance.
Oil and bank stocks traded weak.
Midcap and smallcap stocks mostly moved higher.
The market breadth was slightly strong.
