The mood remains quite bullish on the Indian bourses today thanks to a splendid rally across the globe. Investors are busy picking up stocks cutting across sectors on hopes the economy will soon be back on track.
The Sensex, which drifted down a bit from its high as bulls took a small breather this afternoon following some weakness in European markets, has now rallied to 11,252.83, netting a handsome gain of 305.43 points or 2.79%. The Nifty is up with a gain of 88.75 points or 2.63% at 3458.25.
Realty stocks continue to trade firm with most of their early gains intact. Bank, capital goods, information technology, telecom and power stocks too are up with impressive gains. Metal, oil and auto stocks remain steady. Sugar stocks have posted notable gains. FMCG and pharma stocks remain quite subdued.
Besides several large cap stocks, a number of midcap and smallcap stocks have also recorded sparkling gains today.
Among midcaps, Mahindra Lifespace (up 13.5% at Rs 201.10) is the top gainer. Indian Overseas Bank has gained 13%. IVRCL Infrastructure has spurted 11.1% to Rs 167. Advanta, Puravankara Projects, Bajaj Hindustan, Allahabad Bank, Jai Corp, Anant Raj Industries and Atlas Copco have gained 7% - 11%.
HCL Infosys, Federal Bank, HDIL, Dish TV, 3M India, Yes Bank, JM Financial Services, Indian Bank, Parsvnath Developers, Motilal Oswal, Dena Bank, Allahabad Bank, Vijaya Bank, Syndicate Bank, Lanco Infratech, Andhra Bank, Praj Industries, Punj Lloyd, Reliance Natural Resources, Corporation Bank, Maharashtra Seamless, Voltas, GE Shipping, Amtek Auto and Kesoram Industries have also recorded strong gains.
