Sensex up 58 points, looks headed for slightly positive close

Amid alternate bouts of buying and selling, stocks are swinging between gains and losses and the key indices now look headed for a slightly positive close.

The mood is quite cautious following a weak start in major European markets. Asian markts ended mostly higher although buying interest was quite subdued in most parts of the region.

The BSE benchmark Sensex is now up 57.82 points or 0.22% at 26,374.16. The Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange is up 17.65 points or 0.22% at 8131.95.

Bharti Airtel is trading 5.5% up on sustained buying at the counter. Zee Entertainment Enterprises is up 4.5%, Bosch and Adani Ports are higher by about 3.25% each and Tata Power is up nearly 3%.

Bharti Infratel is advancing 2.8%. Idea Cellular, BPCL and ONGC are also higher by more than 2.5%. ITC, Tata Motor DVR, NTPC, Grasim Industries, Hero Motocorp, Cipla, Power Grid Corporation, TAta Motors, Bajaj Auto, ACC and BHEL are also notably higher.

Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and Yes Bank are down 1.4% - 2.8%. Larsen & Toubro, Wipro, Hindalco, Tata Consultancy Services, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra and Asian Paints are lower by 0.6% - 1%.
