, Oct. 8 (ANI): The city of San Francisco will play host to the PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) 2012 National Conference from October 12 to October 16.
This year's event will focus on the theme "Bridging The Gap".
A significant feature of this event will be the presence of Shabnam Asthana, an Indian, among the distinguished panel of speakers.
Asthana is the founder of Empowered Solutions, a public relations and communications company focused on media relations, press conferences, brand management, image building and event management, and will. be the only Indian among the list of speakers.
Asthana revealed that she would be speaking on the topic titled "How To Travel The World With Your PR Career" on October 14 (next Sunday).
She said that the current conference committee of the PRSSA National Conference had asked her to attend the event as a special invitee and guest speaker from India.
Asthana revealed that her clients included prestigious names in the real estate, software, education and manufacturing industries around the world.
She said that the focus of her presentation would be on American ways of public relations and how it could be beneficial not only to American PR students and professionals, but also people involved in this sector or industry in other parts of the world.
Asthana said the topic of her address would also dwell on the need for stepping outside the box and learn about emerging public relations trends from around the world.
This session, she feels, could open eyes to greater opportunities in the worldwide market.
This year's conference will include two sessions on development in public relations, besides other important issues such as the role of advisers in student leadership development, IMC and the PR professional, media training, breaking into sports, prescriptions doctors' can't write etc.

The PRSSA connects you with more than 10,000 students and 20,000 professionals involved in public relations through national and regional events, local Chapters and communication networks.
This year's conference, hosted by Sacramento State, will give students the chance to network and connect with their fellow peers and their mentors while developing a professional image through various motivating sessions and distinguished speakers.

Asthana founded Empowered Solutions in 2005. Prior to her work with Empowered Solutions, Asthana served as a lecturer at the National Defence Academy in India, and as manager and vice president for several companies around the world. She has published more than 500 articles in leading newspapers and magazines as a freelance journalist.
Earlier this year, the Public Relations Council of India selected Asthana for the national public relations Hall of Fame award, India's top award for public relations professionals. She also was recently appointed as the director - PR and Marketing (global operations) for a newly-launched television channel in the USA, IND TV (in Milpitas, California). (ANI)
