Over 100 Shiv Sainiks today tried to barge into the premises of the Reliance Infrastructure Annual General Meeting (AGM), demanding a wage rise for Reliance Energy employees.
The Sainiks also demanded the company should employ contracting staff on a permanent basis. The protestors were seen trying to clamber over the wall of the Birla Matoshree building, where the AGM was being held. The police arrived shortly and dispersed the protestors. Some of the investors said the question and answer session could not proceed following the protests. "The resolutions were quickly passed and the management left immediately," said one of the attendee shareholders.
Reliance Infrastructure, in a statement, said the protest was organised at the behest of some "known" corporate rivals. "A group of individuals attempted to disturb our AGM, but their efforts were foiled by the security personnel."
