The distillery, set up adjacent to its Brijnathpur sugar unit, takes the company’s total installed ethanol/alcohol capacity to 210 KLD. “The new distillery can produce both export-grade extra neutral alcohol for premium potable liquor purposes as well as fuel ethanol that can be used for blending with petrol,” said Mr G.S.C. Rao, Executive Director, SSL.

The company’s other two distilleries are at Simbhaoli (90,000 KLD) and Chilwaria (60,000 KLD). SSL has a total cane crushing capacity of 20,100 tonnes per day (tcd), spread over Simbhaoli (9,500 tcd), Chilwaria (6,600 tcd) and Brijnathpur (4,000 tcd).

The Chilwaria and Simbhaoli units also have co-generation plants, with surplus power generation capacity of 14 MW and 15 MW, respectively.
