Sofia Vergara, or Gloria Delgado-Pritchett from Modern Family, is TV's highest paid actress. This will be the sixth year in a row that Sofia has topped the charts.
Sofia earned $41.3 million between June 2016-17 making her the highest-paid actress of the year by a long margian.
The Colombian actress and model shot to fame with her acting job on Chasing Papi, a 2003 English film. But it was Modern Family that made her a household name.
Her earnings reflect income earned before taxes and fees. Although, these have dipped from $43 million in 2015-16, Sofia has managed to add a sizable amount from other sources such as licensing deals and endorsements. Only one-third of her income is from the Emmy-nominated role in Modern Family.
She endorses brands such as Head & Shoulders, Pepsi, and Covergirl. There are also licensing deals such as a deal for a perfume product with Avon, furniture brand - Rooms To Go, and a Coffee machine brand she helped design with SharkNinja.
Besides these, Sofia also dabbles in a variety of movie roles, and earns from her talent management agency, and speaking engagements.
Second on the Forbes list for 2017 is Kelly Cuoco aka Penny of Big Bang Theory fame. Penny's earnings of $26 million a year, is nearly $15 million short of Vergara's. Forbes suggested that this was primarily because Penny did not have as many endorsements and licensing deals.
The Forbes top-ten well-paid actresses also includes Priyanka Chopra. Ranked at number 8, PC's earnings are estimated at $10 million.
