During inauguration of three-day international conference on rolling and finishing technology of steel here on Thursday, SAIL director (technical) S S Mohanty stressed on the importance of steel in economic development, global overcapacity , rising cost of raw materials like coking coal and advocated for technological steps required to reduce the operating emissions in steel plants. Director SAIL asked RDCIS to intervene in technology adoption as well as new product development. Bokaro Steel Plant CEO, A Mitra stressed the need for judicious use of natural resources and asked the experts in the steel segments to take positive steps to meet changing demand pattern and environmental regulations. RDCIS executive director, Sridhar Varadarajan spoke about the relevance of the theme of the international conference.
