LAST WEEK WE ASKED: Do you think introducing firm friendly measures would ensure better placement season for B-schools?
Amid tough competition in the market and taking into account the sluggish economy, hiring of talented and employable persons becomes equally important. The connections and depth of interaction among institutions, firms and individuals around the globe is one of the most important and defining characteristic for a better placements in business schools. The firm friendly measures would help the recruiters to assess and judge the students over various parameters and industry standards. This will help to ensure a better placement atmosphere among the business schools.

B-schools are looking ahead to a heartening placement season for their management graduates. Successful summer internship process gives a self-assured and a sense of optimism to the students. Some management institutes reach out to more number of companies from diverse sectors to facilitate more number of offers to its graduates. Institutes have also witnessed a climb in the average stipends paid to students. Better placements take place by making a good internship process.

There is an age old saying 'A captain is as good as his team' and similarly an institute is as good as its pupils. However in these times of recession and extreme economic stress where there are hardly any jobs in the market and top companies looking at premier B-schools in the country for filling in job vacancies, one of the ways for B Schools around the country is to indeed look at firm friendly measures to experience better placements. This will not just show case the talent, students possess but also how his/her skills match up to the requirements of the company thereby enabling campus placements.

It is difficult to deny that there were serious problem with only Theoretical Education. We need to provide better theoretical as well as Practical knowledge to students. By introducing firm friendly measures would definitely ensure better placement season for B-schools because program like Employability Enhancement Program , English Language or any language courses , Technical Courses will definitely help student to get better job opportunities. That will happen if B-schools introduce firm friendly measures.

In top B-school placement season is grueling and it is conundrum for the companies and students alike. Every company jostles for first slot to get best students and because of this madness, mismatch occur between students and companies expectation and reality. Now Firm friendly measures will aid company to recruit only genuine students i.e. those students who are not only best but have ample interest in that particular profile and company, not just any good students i.e. there will be match between expectation and reality. This in turn will assist company and students to grow in long run.

The move gives a better perspective of what is the demand of the market and also help the candidates who are dexterous and are willing to be the part of the bustling market. Same time it is crucial for the firm to have knowledge of the school candidates and their leading viewpoints on the prevailing critical matters in business world. The firm friendly measure can create a plethora of opportunities for the business school in the placement seasons.

The companies coming in the campus are looking at the talent pool which the B-schools imbibe in students. If their requirements are not met, they would not hesitate to abstain themselves from participating in the placement process of a particular B-school. Firm friendly measure would only make relationship between the company and the college strong, but that does not imply that placements will be 100% for the B-school. Colleges should rather than try to improve the employ-ability of their students.

According to me, the reputation of college and firm friendly measures are the two key areas which ensure a better placement season. Students get the opportunity to know the industry and work exposure with the help of internship, workshops and some interactive sessions. Even the members from companies should interact with the students through Business Thought Leadership Sessions, Guest Lectures, Live Projects, and other Corporate Forums. This could be a good way for some finely reputed B-schools to ensure better placement season for students.

With the clouds of political uncertainty and logjam in economy, it is becoming harder for the B-school to attract new corporate in their placement list. On the other hand, there are other B-School who are proving their potential caliber too. Hence it become essential for B–school to maintain the bonding with the old firms in order to attract them in these placement season too. Firm friendly measure will nourish the relationship between both the party and in the end, the firm will recruit a suitable employee and for B-School their student will be placed in reputable corporate.
