Lucknow, Jan 5 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government Saturday announced the setting up of a special force for the safety of tigers at the Dudhwa National Park.
The decision was to set up this force, which would take shape very soon, was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, a government spokesman said.
The cabinet also decided to provide solar battery-powered rickshaws in place of existing cycle rickshaws free of cost. The proposal was mooted by the state government some time back and got a stamp of approval by the state cabinet Saturday.
The cabinet also decided to set up 10 selling points for the small scale and cottage industries to provide them better access to the market.
The cabinet also approved a proposal to merge the Gautam Buddha Technical University and Mahamaya Technical University and to name it the Uttar Pradesh Technical University.
