Lucknow, Sep 14 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Friday urged the central government to form Inter-State Regional Transport Authorities and called for more railway stations in the state.
The recommendations were made in response to the National Transport Development Policy Committee's invitation to suggest ways to evolve an integrated and sustainable transport system.
At a meeting of the state's working group on improving transportation, a suggestion was made for an Appellate Authority at the national level along with a State Level Commission.
The committee was formed by the Indian government to formulate a National Transport Development Policy.
Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anil K. Gupta said: "Inter-state regional transport authorities are required for better coordination and integrated development of transport facilities amongst the adjoining states based on specific needs."
