The constuction of a tubeless tyre

The tyre and the rim of the wheel form an air container. To seal in the air in this tyre rim container an air tight membrane is lined against the inner wall of the tyre. In picture gives an idea of how a tubeless tyre works.







The benefits of tubeless tyres
These tyres are resistant to impacts from potholes or hitting of curbs hence chances of tyre damage are minimal.
Even if the tyre gets pierced, less air escapes compared to a tube tyre. The air escapes slowly rather than explosively.
The tyres are hardy and perform well even if there is some loss in air. So if there is a puncture one can drive to a garage safely.
Any object penetrating the tyre is sealed off immediately reducing the number of punctures.
Without the tube inside the tyre makes the tyre light. This means the ride improves significantly as does stability and response while cornering.
Since there is no tube there is no tube related problem hence lower maintenance.
Becuse of the superior design of tubeless tyres there is no chance of slow leaking punctures.
Heat is a major cause of wory in tube tyres there is no chance of this happening in tubeless tyres.
Becuase of the way in which the tyre is sealed no foreign matter can enter the tubeless tyre.

What makes tubeless tyre safe

An object like a nail can enter the tyre and make a hole in the tube making the air escape quickly. This causes the tyre to collapse and in matter of seconds you have a flat tyre. In a tubeless tyre air escapes only through the space punctured by the nail. So with the nail embedded in the tyre it takes a longer time for the air to escape. This means you have more time to drive to the nearest workshop for repairs.
