1. Kadhalikku Neramillai- One of Nagesh's most memorable characters as Chellappa, the aspiring actor. His scenes with Baaliah who played his father has terrific comedy timing and great one-liners.

2 Thillana Mohanambal.The con guy with a pimps mannerisms Vaithy is an all-time favourite with the critics as he stood up to the great Sivaji Ganesan and stole the show.

3. Neer Kumizhi. The first ever film where he played a cancer patient Sethu who uses laughter as a medicine to overcome pain. He also danced beautifully in the film which provided another facet to the talented actor.

4. Server Sundaram. Nagesh during the peak of his career turned hero with this AVM film, which people say was partly autobiographical. A hotel waiter becomes a superstar and the transformation is shown brilliantly by the actor.

5.Thiruvilayadal He was at his comic best in this film, as poet Dharmi. The film is known for its famous 1000 por kasugal scene which became a reference for other comedians.

6Panchathanthiram He provided rip roaring fun in this zany comedy, where he played the pivotal role of father-in-law of one of the important characters and the scenes with Maggy (Ramya Krishnan) brought the house down.

7. Ethir Neechal The punch dialogue in this film said by Nagesh- Naan Madhu Vandirukken , where he plays the role of a gullible innocent fool was a favourite with the masses.

8.Nammavar In the film he played basically a character role that won him a Tamilnadu state award. The scene where he dances when his daughter is killed is haunting and stays in your mind long after the film is over.

9.Anbe Vaa. His on screen chemistry with MGR is fantastic. In this film the MGR-Nagesh scenes according to a veteran distributor brought repeat audiences to the theatres. He played the hero's side kick and was simply terrific.

10. Magalir Mattum. He played a corpse in the film! He made it look so real in the film.
