A Chinese historical drama, it revolves around the Xinhai Revolution. The revolution overthrew imperial rule and established the Republic of China in 1911. The film is to be a tribute to the revolution on its 100th anniversary.
Jackie Chan's son, Jaycee Chan, will also be featured in the film.
1911 was shot for three and a half years. Some have viewed it as a propaganda vehicle of the Chinese Government, as it has been heavily backed by the State.
1911 is a serious drama unlike many of Chan's films that are infused with a heavy dose of action and comedy.
The movie will open to Indian theatres on November 11, and will also be dubbed and released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
