2010 has proved once again that Tamil cinema is superstar driven. It is only star power that can ensure an opening and have buyers in the trade. The reach of the star laced with good entertainment content will ensure that the film turns out to be a hit.
Ultimately the audiences will determine the star power. They come with an open mind without any biases and mince no words, play no favourites and are the real barometer for an actor's popularity.
Here is the Kollywood power list for 2011, taking into consideration the future releases of the star. The trend at the moment is in favour of younger heroes who have the right script and marketing muscle. We have left out the 'numero uno' superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, as they are unlikely to have a release this year.
