In 2012, many big star movies failed to make an impact at overseas box-office although films like Pawan Kalyan`s Gabbar Singh made huge money.
Gabbar Singh and Eega were the biggest hits in the overseas market.
Success rate for Telugu films is high in India this year. But same is not true for the USA market. Many big hero films failed to make money. On the other hand, market is growing slowly. But it needs to be tapped with realistic approach.
The positive aspect of 2012 is that if a movie got good word of mouth and reviews, audiences flocked to the theaters rather than waiting for the pirated versions to hit the web. At the same time if the movie did not receive encouraging reviews they completely ignored the movie.
The number of centers have increased in USA and this helped films get a great opening. High ticket prices continue to be the main problem for many moviegoers.
As usual there is no unity among the distributors in USA as they do in India. And they keep increasing the rates to buy the movie without assessing the film's content/quality, which backfires most of the time leaving them in lurch.
