Radha Mohan's 60 Vayadu Maaniram is a beautiful film that makes you look at life, family and priorities with new eyes. Beautifully photographed by Vivek Anand and tenderly scored by Ilayaraja, here is a movie that hinges primarily on its performances, and the director does an excellent job of making every actor deliver.

It’s an emotional roller coaster ride that’ll have you smiling through that lump in your throat. This movie is a brilliant remake of 2016 Kannada film Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu . Professor Govindarajan (Prakash Raj) is a man in his sixties, who is suffering from Alzheimer's.  His only son Shiva (Vikram Prabhu) is a techie who has no time and is busy with his work in Mumbai.

Govindarajan is in a home for Alzheimer parents and he is getting all the care and attention sans the time and love from his dear son. Shiva is ready to spend money for his dad but doesn't have the patience and time to look after the old man. The film opens when Shiva comes to Chennai to meet his dad before he leaves for US but the old man goes missing!

Along with a caring doctor (Indhuja), Shiva is on a mission to find his dad. Govindarajan accidentally gets into the vehicle of a criminal Ranga (Samuthirakani) who is on his way with a close aide to dispose a dead body. What happens when all these people land up in a middle class house and will Shiva find his dad?

60 Vayadu Maaniram is filled with trademark emotional touches, subtle comedy one liners (major credits to dialogue writer Viji) and brilliant performance from his lead actors. After a long time, Vikram Prabhu has delivered an effortless natural performance. Prakash Raj offers a solid performance as Govindarajan. One example for his brilliant performance is the lengthy shot in the second half where he recalls his love story, the veteran's facial muscles, eyes and body acts in that scene. Ilaiyaraaja 's score also aptly elevates the performance of the veteran to a different level.

Samuthirakani as usual holds the film with his majestic screen presence. Portions happening inside Kumaravel' s house featuring Madhumitha, Prakash Raj and the small boy are quite hilarious and the comedy is so cool and goes with the flow.

The film reaches out because it’s sincere. Our recommendation not to miss 60 Vayadu Maaniram. It’s one of the best films this year, and one you will carry in your heart for years.

60 Vayadu Maaniram review-A well-intentioned film that’s a must-watch.
