As the film releases again in 3D on the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking, it is time to view these objections and find out if there's any merit in either its accusations or its praises.
Titanic is a simple love story of two people - Jack and Rose - from two opposing spectrums of life, who meet on an ill-fated ship even as it hits an iceberg and begins to break apart. The lovers try to stay alive even as Rose's fiance tries to hunt them down amidst a ship quickly turning into wreckage.
Yet, like those who first discovered the ship's wreckage, if you sink your submarine deep enough to look closely at the story, you'll find that this description is merely a facade, a sugar-coating under which hides layers and a mother lode of metaphors. Let's try and salvage just a few from the wreckage of its criticisms.
