Now, in 2013, he's starring in the remake of the same.
"It was nostalgic during this film [Himmatwala]. As the film is set in the 80s, it reminded me of my earlier movies, when I had started in the industry," siad Ajay.
"Then I had gone on the sets of Himmatwala as my father was the action director for that movie."
The film, which is directed by Sajid Khan, also stars Southern star Tamannaah Bhatia.
"I am from Mumbai and I was waiting for a good script to come my way," said the actress.
"I was happy when I was offered this film. I wouldn't have missed the opportunity to do this movie."
Though it's a remake, Ajay stressed that they were not copying anyone. "I have worn a white shirt and pants, but not white shoes," Ajay said, referring to Jeetendra's look in the film.
Himmatwala is all set to release on March 29.
