In a country where the production and distribution of pornography is illegal, a new breed of women have been consistently pushing the boundaries of legal obscenity. The trend probably began when Poonam Pandey, a relatively unknown model at the time, announced on Twitter that she would strip if the Indian team won the finals of the Cricket World Cup in 2011.
This was inspired by Larissa Riquelme, a Paraguayan model, who ran unclothed through the capital to support the country's football team. The Indian team won the Cup that year, but Poonam Pandey did not deliver on her promise, saying that she would only do so if the BCCI permitted her. No permit was forthcoming.
