Yet another film on Punjabi Sikhs titled I Am Singh, is set to make its way on to the screen. The premise is interesting having been set in the US post 9/11. The film is set to take on the right to religious identity. But none of this is evident in the trailer that's all about Hard Kaur and Daler Mehendi.
There have been a spate of Punjabi-themed films in Bollywood that liberally have used the word Singh or portrayed them. It's a pity that in the din of so many such flicks, an interesting story like this stands to be drowned out by all the jubilation, rappers, and funky beats that is so synonymous with films with a taste of Punjab.
