The finals of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) in Hyderabad on Sunday (June 12) saw Chennai Rhinos thrashing Bangalore Bulldozers and winning the cup.
It is a great victory for the Kollywood team, and Chennai can be proud as Chennai Super Kings won the IPL and Chennai Rhinos have won the CCL for 2011.
It was not an easy win for Chennai Rhinos as they were pitted against the might of Bangalore Bulldozers, who had won all their preliminary rounds due to superb all round performance. The Rhinos started as the underdogs and lost the toss and were put in to bat by the Bulldozercaptain Kiccha Sudeep.
Bangalore Bulldozers` bowling failed and their fielders dropped catches and the fielding was bad.
Chennai Rhinos won due to superior batting power, tight bowling and superb fielding. It was Kollywood`s lessor known actors like Vikranth, Shanthanoo and Siva, who came to the party and impressed. Top actor Vishal impressed with his outstanding catching and ground fielding.
It looks like CCL is here to stay as two new teams will be taking part in 2012, a Bangla team to be owned by Sridevi and Boney Kapoor and a Kerala team whose owners will be Priyadarsan and his wife Lizzy. The CCL offers actors who did not have a good run at the box-office to reinvent themselves as T:20 players and get a new fan base, fame and money.
