Comedian 'Loose' Mohan passes away

Veteran Tamil comedian ‘Loose’ Mohan (84) died on Sunday (Sep 16) morning in Chennai.  Arumugam Mohanasundaram, popularly known as Loose Mohan, was a Tamil film actor who had acted as a comedian in over 1000 films.

Mohan’s claim to fame was he popularised Madras Bashai, an unique dialect of Tamil language spoken in Chennai city. His dialogue delivery was the comedian's biggest selling point.


Mohan's breakthrough movie as a comedian was the 1979 film Rosapoo Ravikaikari. In 2000, Mohan was awarded the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

 Mohan acted in his last film role in 2002 in Azhagi. He was forced to quit acting due to his deteriorating health. In 2009, Mohan filed a case against his son Karthik for neglecting his health.
