Despite Kamal Haasan's request to his fans to keep their cool, his decision to not take the Vishwaroopam appeal to the Supreme Court has not gone down well with the masses.
Many feel the actor fought hard for so long, only to bend his knees at the last minute. And they voiced their opinion freely on Twitter.
Balaji Iyer: Cowardice! So he decided to edit film n seek Jihadi nod?- Kamal Haasan won't take case to Supreme Court today
Jahangeer Paleri: It seems Kamal Haasan has been misguided. His decision not to appeal SC is foolish. He is a peace maker , not a FIGHTER now, disappointing!
Aniket: There is no need of re-editing #kamalhaasan' #vishwaroopam. The thing that needs re-editing is #Tamilnadu and now #UP Government.
However, stars from both Kollywood and Bollywood are still firmly on the actor-director's side.
In fact, many of them are planning to approach the Tamil Nadu government to ask for the complaint to be withdrawn.
Here's what some of them had to say:
Anupam Kher: As a former Censor Board Chief I strongly CONDEMN Banning of Kamal Hassan’s #Vishwaroopam. We as People of India are Shamelessly SPINELESS.
Dia Mirza: I SUPPORT Kamal Haasan Sir. #iSupportKamalHaasan #Vishwaroopam
Khushbu Sundar: This man is so composed n poised..wonder where he gets his strength from 2 take so much yet remain sane..#KamalHaasan, take a bow..I salute u
Kabir Bedi: To ban #Vishwaroopam on flimsy grounds, when #kamalhaasan has staked everything, seems like a vicious political vendetta. #India
Shekhar Kapur: Govt's weak response 2 fringe groups on #Vishwaroopam gives thm a sense of power tht will resonate beynd just cinema n freedom of expression
Nikhil Advani: So should we just consider the Censor Board as a defunct organisation and send all films to the Supreme Court? #vishwaroopam
Sangeeth Sivan: Totally deplorable what is happening inTN. D state govt shld ensure that a film passed by d censor is released not stop its rel #vishwaroopam
