In picture: Bhanu Athaiya receives the Laadli Lifetime Achievement Award
At the fourth edition of The Laadli National Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2011-12 it was Oscar-winning Bhanu Athaiya and Gauri Shinde who stole the spotlight.
The former took home the Laadli Lifetime Achievement Award while the latter was awarded Best Mainline Film for her directorial debut, English Vinglish.
Also spotted at the event were director Ashutosh Gowariker, singer Sunita Rao, R Balki and Pooja Bedi among others.
Shubha Mudgal brought in the entertainment factor with a couple of songs on women empowerment. Also rocking the stage were Shiamak Davar's students.
The awards is organized by NGO, Population First and has been instituted to recognize and encourage media and advertising professionals to keep working on gender issues.
This year's winners were judged by a panel that comprised Vishwanath Sachdev, Sathya Saran, Mahesh Bhatt, Vimla Patil, Pradeep Guha, Deepa Gahlot, Ramesh Narayan, Pradyuman Maheshwani, Prakash Bal Joshi, Aanand Mahendroo, Neeru Nanda, Sameera Khan, Goutam Rakshit, Juhi Chaturvedi and Mrinmayee Ranade.
