London: Leggings that help lose weight by raising the body temperature while exercising or undertaking simple household chores are proving to be a huge success and more than 500,000 pairs have already been sold online, it has been revealed.

Zaggora HotPants are the brainchild of Dessi Bell, who as a bride-to-be wanted to find a way to get more out of her gym workout in the lead-up to her wedding.

The HotPants use 'Celu-Lite technology', which is designed to 'boost the effects' of your normal routine.

They work by 'intensifying heat and increasing the core temperature by a significant amount - but not enough to be uncomfortable - so that you burn more calories', Bell explained.

The 280year-old said that the leggings were particularly popular with women who did not have time to go to the gym but were active.

"A lot of women wear them for walking," the Daily Mail quoted Bell as saying.

"As long as you are active you will see a benefit, even if that is around the house or doing the school-run," she said.

The shorts have even been tested by sports scientists at the University of Brighton.

Researchers there found that volunteers using HotPants while doing moderate exercise over four weeks lost, on average, 1.3lb more than those who did not wear them.

The Zaggora range, which was launched last year, now includes a range of blazers priced at 80-90 pounds and tops for 30-50 pounds. These are also designed to maximise the effect of exercise. (ANI)
