Yashwant hails from a poor family and he had approached choreographer-turned-actor Lawrence and his charitable trust, who in turn requested Vijay, to fund his operation.
Vijay immediately agreed.
Since the boy had a rare disorder, Ilayathalapathy got in touch with Dr K R Balakrishnan at the Fortis Malar Hospital in Chennai, who did the operation though many doctors in Andhra had given up on the boy.
