Today is Republic Day (January 26), a public holiday but a crucial day for Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam. A Judge from Madras High Court will be watching the film in a Chennai preview theater and take a call to review a two-week ban imposed by the Tamil Nadu government on the film.
Noted lawyer Bharath Raman who is representing Kamal Haasan Tweeted - "World over reviews indicate Vishwaroopam to be a classy thriller with no communal tinge.I will be watching it with the Honarable Judge today. Hope the people of TN too get to see it."
Meanwhile Vishwaroopam has opened to rave reviews and house full shows in Kerala, though screening was disrupted in many centres.
The protests were mainly in Palakkad, Kozhikode, Idukki and Kollam districts. However the film got a big boost when Pinarayai Vijayan, CPI(M) state secretary issued a statement in support of the film.P.Vijayan said : "Kamal Haasan is an artist with very deep secular sense. It is undemocratic to dub his film as one against any religion.
The people should be given an opportunity to judge for themselves the content of the film."
