She had complained about chest pain and was rushed to Apollo Hospital, where she breathed her last.
Ilayaraja was in Hyderabad attending a function and rushed back late night. Her children music directors Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja and daughter singer Bhavatharani were by her side.
Jeeva underwent a bypass surgery five years back. Her body will be taken to her village Pannaipuram in Theni district for the last rites on Tuesday.
