And trying to see if she can invest the pasta-fuelled, mosquito-troubled, myth-busting journey with an extra dash of joie de vivre is Julia Roberts. In the big screen adaptation of the book (directed by Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy), Roberts travels the world - eating and enjoying life in Italy, trying to find her spirituality in India, and looking for balance in Bali, Indonesia - in search of herself.
How successful she is - along with her supporting cast comprising Javier Bardem, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Richard Jenkins, and Viola Davis - will be revealed when the movie releases on August 30.
