Thiruvanathapuram, Dec 14 (IANS) Chilean filmmaker Francisca Silva says though filmmakers in her country are trying to bring in new ways to make a film, the people of the South American country are still attracted to Hollywood.

The director spoke about the film industry in her country and its growth at the 17th International Film Festival of Kerala.

Talking about the Chilean film industry, she said, it is a great time for Chile's cinema, thanks to the new generation of directors, who are trying to create their own identity with films focussing on common life.

"Though people's fondness towards Hollywood is becoming a threat for them," said Silva.

Her film "Ivan's Woman" was screened at the festival. She says her film, which questions the feelings of love and freedom, was inspired by a true event of kidnapping in Vienna.
