The advance booking for Vikram’s Anniyan directed by Shankar, releasing on June 17th started today in Chennai and other towns of Tamil Nadu. There is only one word to describe the advance booking so far — Phenomenal

At Chennai`s biggest screen, Sathyam theatre (capacity 1260 seats) all 28 shows for opening week have been sold out by noon! At Kasi theatre in Jafferkhanpet (KK Nagar) tickets for first week were sold out.

At Albert (Egmore) and Sangam (Puruswalkam) all tickets for the week are likely to be sold out by evening! At Maharani in Mint (North Madras) all tickets till Monday are exhausted.

Anniyan is going to take a bumper opening all over Tamil Nadu and the news coming from Coimbatore say that in theatres like Archana, Karpagam and KG, tickets have been sold out till Monday night show.

In Kerala Anniyan is releasing in two theatres simultaneously in 10 towns just like a Mohanlal or Mammootty film!

According to Swaroop Reddy of Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai: “We haven’t seen such serpentine queues for advance booking.We had opened four counters and still the queue stretched up to our car park. Truly amazing!”

Sathyam cinemas are also planning to open advance booking for second week, seeing peoples craze to watch the film.

Meanwhile producer ‘Oscar’ Ravichandran and Shankar have switched off their mobiles due to pressure for tickets from top VVIP’s and friends. Anniyan, even before the release has taken a historical opening due to the amazing advance booking.
