Aarakshan is the story of Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), an idealistic college principal at an institution which he single-handedly turned into one of the best in the country. It is the story of a disciple, Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan) who will do anything for his 'Sir'.
It's also the story of Deepak's love for Prabhakar's daughter, Poorbi (Deepika Padukone), his friendship with Sushant (Prateik) and the times they live in.
Centered on Supreme Court's order on reservations, the story claims to be a rollercoaster ride of high drama, conflict, and rebellion, which tests the students' loyalty to principal Prabhakar Anand.
