After many years, superstar Rajinikanth celebrated his birthday at home in Poes Garden, Chennai. Normally he flies off to some distant cool retreat like Himalayas, or Bangalore away from the maddening crowds. However, this year it’s a birthday that the world envies - 12/12/12. Rajinikanth who turned 63 today decided to commemorate the occasion by breaking the tradition. In the morning around 9 a.m. he walked out of his house to wave to a few hundred fans who couldn't believe their luck. He also met the waiting media and gave some bytes for the news channels.
Rajini fans from all over south India came to his home to wish the Superstar. An emotionally touched Rajini addressed them outside his house. His message to his fans: “12/12/12 is a very significant day in my life, my heartfelt thanks to all. Always respect your parents.”
His super hit Sivaji in 3D format is hitting the screens today. Most of the screens showing Sivaji 3D across Chennai had sold-out shows. He also said Sivaji 3D is his gift to his fans.
Rajinikanth also thanked his colleague Kamal Haasan, "I thank Kamal Haasan for helping me emerge a solo hero in Tamil cinema. He motivated me a lot".
Rajinikanth says his next film Kochadaiyaan, a technological extravaganza where he plays a warrior, will be released next year. Rajini also pointed out that, “Success of 3D films like Sivaji and Kochadaiyaan will embolden us in future to try doing epics like Mahabharatha and Ramayana in 3D”.
