Mumbai witnessed star-studded Durga Puja festivities this time, with themes ranging from Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement to Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda.
The one organised by Kajol and Rani Mukerjee had a 15-ft idol. The pandal was air-conditioned and the stars and devotees "joined together for the afternoon prasad in its cool comforts," said a social worker.
Playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya hosted a star-studded mega-budget event at his Durga pandal in Andheri, while director Basu Chatterjee reigned over his Bandra Durga Puja.
Over 98 pandals celebrated Durga Puja this year, where commoners got a chance to rub shoulders with Bollywood personalities.
