The presence of big stars added a lot of colour to the 60th birthday celebrations of Kannada film industry's legendary actor Rebel Star Ambareesh, which was held in the Palace grounds in Bengaluru on Tuesday evening (May 29).
Super Star Rajinikanth, Shatrughan Sinha, Ambika, Jayanthi, Kushboo, Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Arjun Sarja, Suneil Shetty, Jayaprada, Mohan Babu and Jackie Shroff were some of the big stars who attended the function. The presence of singer S P Balasubramanyam also added to the function.
Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi's speeches were the major highlight of the function. Both the super stars highlighted Ambareesh's friendly nature, frankness and openheartedness.
'Ambareesh has always shown eagerness to help his friends. Recently, I had undergone some depression in my life because of some circumstances, but it was Ambareesh who motivated me to take a break and go on a holiday to Malaysia,' said Chiranjeevi.
'He came along with his family to spend some time with my family. I am rejuvenated after the break and this is all due to Ambareesh’s healing words and actions,' added Chiranjeevi.
He compared Ambareesh - often referred to as 'Ajatha Shatru' of the Kannada film industry - to a coconut, which has a rough exterior, but is soft and sweet inside.
'Only if you go inside the mind and heart of Ambareesh will you realise the greatness of Ambareesh,' said Chiranjeevi.
Rajinikanth compared Ambareesh to Krishna, Rama, Bheema, Duryodhana and even Shakuni (he gesticulated with an action implying how Ambi was fond of playing cards).
'I learnt the way to smoke by simply observing his smoking action in his first film Nagarahaavu. He is really a legendary actor who has earned a big fan following and also a huge friends base,' said Rajinikanth.
The whole Kannada film industry comprising film artists, technicians, cine workers and film producers were present to wish Ambareesh on his birthday.
There was a live entertainment programme in which all the leading stars such as Ravichandran, Shivaraj Kumar, Kicha Sudeep, Darshan, Puneet Raj Kumar, Ramesh Arvind, Ramya, Radhika Pandit, Aindrita Ray and Hari Priya participated.
Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Union Minister Muniyappa were also present.
Thousands of fans were captivated by the grandeur of the function.
Earlier in the morning, there was a colourful photo exhibition of the life and times of the Rebel Star, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Over 600 photos were exhibited in the photo exhibition, which provided a bird's-eye view of the life and times of Ambareesh's film and political life.
