Things are still up in the air.
The High Court has taken up the appeal from the Tamil Nadu government to reinstate the ban against Vishwaroopam.
Meanwhile, celebrities are tweeting their support of Kamal and his film.
Ranvir Shorey: Pandering to ethnic groups of bullies is what divides the nation, not films and books! #Vishwaroopam #BharatBananaHai
Ranvir Shorey: These powers are meant to protect constitutional values, not selfish political interests. #Vishwaroopam #BharatBananaHai
Pritish Nandy: Have we gone mad, taking on someone or the other every day! Kamal Haasan, @iamsrk , @SalmanRushdie , Ashis Nandy.
Siddharth: My deepest condolences to Kamal Haasan. His service to our cinema and to shaping many creative destinies needed gratitude. Not betrayal. Sad
Shekhar Kapur: I stand up for #kamalhassan right 2 show d world #vishwaroopam n let d people decide, especially after Censor Board has passed the film. You?
Shirish Kunder: #Vishwaroopam: Kamal Haasan is no stranger to opposition in his creative endeavours. Once when I was working with him on 'Sandiyar', the then government (Jayalalithaa) had banned him from shooting in Theni. The entire unit returned without shooting a single day. But he didn't give up. The film was later shot elsewhere after the title was changed to 'Virumaandi'.
But then trust Shirish to spoil things by poking fun at the whole issue.
Shirish Kunder: Kamal Haasan has been misunderstood by Muslims because of the BJP Logo 'Kamal' in his name. #Vishwaroopam
If he doesn't watch out, the Muslims are going to target Shirish next!
