The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that leading production house Studio Green has acquired the distribution rights of Kumki, though it’s not official.
Kumki is creating all the right noises, as it is Vikram Prabhu’s debut film and is directed by Prabhu Solomon the Mynaa director who has tackled a new storyline with an elephant as one of the leads and produced by Thirrupathy Brothers.
D Imman’s songs are already topping the charts. Remember that both Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan had graced the audio launch of Kumki which is the debut vehicle of the third generation of actors from Sivaji Ganesan’s illustrious acting lineage. The camerawork of Sukumaran has already garnered lot of attention judging from the trailer and its visuals.
Given the close links between the Sivaji Ganesan and Sivakumar families (with Suriya and Karthi being chief guests at the audio event), the distribution of the film being taken over by Studio Green adds an emotional quotient to the venture as well.
The details of the territories are still being worked out. With Studio Green deciding not only to produce films but distribute good cinema, and given their impeccable track record of film promotions and marketing, this deal could be termed a surefire winner for Thirrupathy Brothers indeed.
