Today, it is not enough for a superstar to be popular in Tamilnadu, he has to have a pull in the other three southern states of Andhra, Kerala and Karnataka, to make it big at the box-office.

Earlier only Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth were popular all over South India. But now Vikram, Vijay (only Kerala and Bangalore city) and Suriya have also become popular and boosted their commercial viability and reach.

Today, Vikram is very popular in Andhra after the stupendous success of Aparichitudu the dubbed version of Anniyan. This film has collected more money than any other Tamil film in the state. And now the actor has set his eyes on Kerala especially after Anniyan grossed over Rs 6 Crore, beating all existing records for Tamil films there.

Vikram has appeared on the cover of more number of Malayalam magazines and his interviews are a highlight on satellite channels in Kerala on festival days. He has also fans associations there involved in a lot of social work.

Last week, he was in Tiruvananthapuram for three days. He was the chief guest at the Asianet film awards and later took part in the 150 days celebration of his Anniyan at the Dhanya theatre. Said Shibu the distributor of Anniyan in Kerala: “His popularity is seen to be believed as there were traffic jams on the main roads of Thiruvananthapuram. He stole the hearts of everyone with his humble behavior and talk”.

Vikram also visited the Sri Chitra poor home for Children and spend a lot of time having food with the inmates, posing for photographs and personally giving autographs and talking to them. Remember that Vikram had done some forgettable films with superstars like Mammootty and Suresh Gopi before he became a top star in Tamil.

And at a speech Vikram in his usual humble manner told the crowd that his wife Shailaja a Malayalaee from Tellicherry is a big fan of Mohanlal! And guess the hottest Tamil movie in Kerala film trade? It is none other than Vikram’s Bheema which everybody is after!
