Reports claim that Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha came to watch an IPL game at Eden Garden recently in a bid to promote their upcoming, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2.
So they sat with the crowd, waved to everyone, cheered at all the appropriate places, but didn't manage to get even a second of screen time.
Of course, stories had to made up about why they missed their time in the spotlight. Many claimed it was 'sabotage' - that Shah Rukh Khan had specifically warned the camera crew to avoid shooting the stars.
They claimed SRK didn't want Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2 getting more attention than Chennai Express - not when the two films are getting set to clash at the box office during Eid.
However, the IPL authorities claim nothing darker should be read into the whole affair. What transpired was merely a part of IPL policy.
Since the IPL frowns on surrogate advertising, they just could not show footage of the three stars wearing t-shirts emblazon with the Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2 name.
Simple really! Now if only all the conspiracy theorists out there believed it!
