2006: Experiments continue with more successes
YRF has an interesting tradition of repeating its loyal filmmakers and 2006 year saw films by two regulars – Kunal Kohli`s Fanaa that was panned by the critics and Sanjay Gadhvi`s much-awaited Dhoom:2. The third film to come out was quasi documentary Kabul Express by Kabir Khan. While Fanaa didn`t find favor with the critics, the film did very well, mostly owing to Kajol`s infectious smile and her chemistry with Aamir Khan. Dhoom:2 was bigger and better than its original (Dhoom in 2004) and went on to wow the audience making it one of the biggest hits of the year, on par with Rakesh Roshan`s Krrish. Kabul Express received a thanda response, but it was encouraging to see YRF attempting to promote all kinds of filmmakers and their work.
