2007: Going overboard?
In its experimental bid, YRF, it is observed went a bit overboard and that led to a year of four flops. Only saving grace being the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak De! India directed by Shimit Amin. With Ta Ra Rum Pum, directed by Siddharth Anand, the audience was not drawn to a film that looked dated. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom by Shaad Ali also was a dud. There was an attempt to overtly woo the female viewer with Laaga Chunari Mein Daag directed by Pradeep Sarkar and debutant Anil Mehta`s Aaja Nachle. The latter had great hopes pinned on it as it marked Madhuri Dixit`s comeback; and despite being a fine film, it inexplicably bombed. While Chak De! India was a blockbuster hit, YRF was reeling under four major failures.
