The shooting of debutant director Jubith Namradath’s Aabhasam, starring Rima Kallingal and Suraj Venjarammoodu in the lead roles, got disrupted as one of the buses carrying Pakistan’s father of the nation Muhammed Ali Jinnah’s pictures caught the attention of some fanatic groups.
The truth behind the story, as per some reports, is that there are several buses in the film, carrying the same name, “Democracy”. There is a red coloured bus with Karl Marx’s face, green with Jinnah’s, saffron coloured bus with Godse’s picture, white coloured bus with Gandhiji’s picture and blue coloured bus with Dr. B R Ambedkar’s picture.
However, the one that got into trouble was the bus carrying Jinnah’s picture.
Now the Aabhasam team has come up with this explanation:
Hello everyone, it has come to our notice that a rumour is being spread in the name and colour of a bus, blaming certain communities and organisations claiming that the design of the bus was explicitly done to hurt the sentiments of certain other groups. This note is an official declaration from our part to clear this confusion and to convey that we are making a film and the bus is a property integral to conveying the story and we mean no disrespect to any person or community whatsoever. We also request the parties involved to stop spreading hatred in this regard and to take things in good spirit. Posting some of the hatred spreading posts along with a repost of our own real idea of the buses which are only fictional.
