The best thing about Aaha Kalyanam, a remake of Band Baaja Baarat is that it is faithful to the original and is a scene-to-scene copy. It is smartly packaged with the required gloss 'n' glamour and delivers the goods.
This new-age romance works big time due to the spontaneity of the fresh lead pair, as they light up the screen with their terrific on-screen chemistry. Debutant director Gokul Krisha has packaged the film smartly.
The story is about two people who come together start a business as wedding planners- Their struggle, passion, victory, an interval twist, heart breaks and finally a happy ending. Nani is pitch perfect in the role of an uncouth but good-hearted small town boy and new girl Vaani Kapoor as an ambitious hard-working, independent girl of today is a sensational find. The rest of the supporting cast has done a good job too. The rest of the supporting cast has done a good job too.
The first half is immensely enjoyable as Shakthi and Shruti struggle to establish their company by working hard to organizing small weddings in their locality and slowly makes it big. However the second half is a bit slow and loses steam only for things to fall back comfortably for a cute climax.
Strangely, except for two songs, the music is mediocre and could have been better. On the whole, this is a refreshing film, very different from the usual romantic comedies we're so used to. It is fun, enjoyment, celebration and happiness. Go for it!
Verdict: Good fun
