Fans across India cut birthday cakes, sang and danced to express their adulation for Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who turned 47 on Thursday.
Khan is known for his gravity defying stunts and inspiring physique. Khan is not only a superhit big screen actor, but is also riding high on fame of a prime time TV reality show, 'Bigg Boss'.
Talking to reporters in Mumbai, Khan said: "I have no plans of a party. Yesterday also, I didn't really plan anything, but friends came over to wish me. Even today, I do not have any such plans. So many people have turned up, that is my gift."
Ardent fans camped overnight near his residence to catch a glimpse of the superstar.
Vijay Kumar, a die-hard Khan fan, who has been fasting since two days in a hope to meet him, vowed not to eat anything until he meets his hero in person.
"My dream is to act in a film with Salman Khan and also get a picture clicked with him. Till the time he doesn't see me personally and feed me, I will not break my fast. I have sitting been sitting here for the last two days," said Kumar.
Fans also wished him luck for his future endeavours and vowed to wait until Khan shows up, in order to wish him in person.
"I will wait for any amount of time to meet Salman Khan. I am an ardent fan and wish him all the luck in his future endeavours as an actor and human being," said Laxmi, Khan's ardent fan.
Khan has a huge fan following and is popular with both multiplex and single-screen audiences in India.
Meanwhile, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, bodybuilder fans of Khan, showing off their six pack abs, cut the birthday cake of their favourite actor whom they dub as their 'godfather'.
"We had a lot of fun today. We cut a cake, sung songs, danced to Salman Khan's hit numbers and celebrated the success of his latest film, Dabangg 2. He is like our godfather," said Vikram Singh, a bodybuilder and Khan's fan.
The star, one of the Indian film industry's trio of Khans, is riding a wave of success that has seen three of his films make a billion rupees at the box office.
His latest film 'Dabangg 2', a sequel to his 2010 hit, which hit film screens last Friday, is running successfully in theatres across the country. (ANI)
