Adaminte Makan Abu, goes for Oscars

The critically acclaimed award winning Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu directed by Salim Ahamed, is India’s official entry for the Oscars.

The film got Salim Kumar its hero the National Award for the best actor besides four other awards including the best feature film.

Adaminte Makan Abu was officially chosen by a 14 member jury of the Film Federation of India (FFI).

The chairman of FFI, B Lenin said: “ We chose Adaminte Makan Abu as it had a very simple story that clearly explains human values and the life of a person who fights against all odds.”

Some of the other films in the running were Deiva Thirumagal, Muran, Aadukalam, Ko and Endhiran in Tamil. Guzaarish, No One Killed Jessica, Dhobi Ghat, Chillar Party, 7Khoon Maaf in Hindi.

Said one of the selection members at FFI: “ Some of the nominated films especially in Tamil were inspired from various Hollywood films. Among the films Adaminte Makan Abu, had an Indianess about it and is the best choice.”
