If remakes were the trend until some months back, sequels are all set to be the new one. Or take a look at these statistics.
The sequel to the 1995 hit Mannar Mathai Speaking  (which is actually the sequel to Ramji Rao Speaking), predictably titled Mannar Mathai Speaking 2 , is currently underway. Mannar Mathai Speaking 2 is being directed by Mamas.
Gitanjali, directed by Priyadarsan, has Mohanlal playing his character of an eccentric psychiatrist named Dr. Sunny from Manichithrathazhu.

It has been almost confirmed that a sequel to Lelam is in the offing. Also the next part of the CBI Diarykurippu series is also scheduled to start next year.
Director Rosshan Andrrews has for long been plan to an addition to the Nadodikkattu trilogy. There is also a plan to make a sequel to C I D Moosa, which had Dileep as a comical hero.
The remakes of Neelathamara, Rathinirvedam and Chattakkari were seen sometime back.
