Malayali viewers had pinned great hopes on the three big Vishu releases - Lal Jose's Immanuel starring Mammootty and Fahadh Faasil, Vysakh's Sound Thoma with Dileep in the lead and Siddique's Ladies & Gentleman in which Mohanlal teams up with four ladies.

But none of the films have received thumbs up either from the critics or the masses, in a big way. Immanuel has a definite edge among the three as a feel good, just about okay entertainer, while Sound Thoma has turned out to be a mimicry show and Ladies & Gentleman being adjudged as surprisingly naive and disappointing.

The timing of the release could help the films, as there is no real competition, with the big Bollywood releases waiting for the IPL to end. Amidst all the hullabaloo, Amen, which has got tremendous appreciation from all and released some weeks back, has turned out to be a winner all the way.

The vacation crowds and the satellite revenue may help the superstars but the response to the big three should make them concerned about their choice of films for sure.
