One of the greatest comedians of Telugu cinema, Allu Ramalingaiah passed away on Friday July 30. He was 82 years old and has acted in over 1030 films mainly as a comedian.
He was famous among the Andhra audience for his one-liners and witty dialogues. Allu was the father-in-law of megastar Chiranjeevi, father of leading producer Allu Arvind and grandfather of young rising star Allu Arjun.
Allu Ramalingaiah’s role in classic Sankarabharanam was probably the first serious role in his entire career. Fans also enjoyed his combination with Chiranjeevi on screen which had brought the house down. In 1992 Allu Ramalingaiah was awarded the Padmashree. A huge contingent of politicians and actors turned up at Allu’s house in Film Nagar, Jubilee Hills to pay condolence to the great actor.
