A raging controversy has erupted after director Ameer made some shocking allegations against the regional censor board in Chennai.
Ameer’s ire was that they butchered his new film Aadhi Bhagavan with 24 cuts and a ‘A’ certificate. It crippled the film at the box-office.
But what set the cat among pigeons was Ameer’s remark that censor board is run by a Mafia and he could have got a ‘U’ certificate if he had “given what they wanted from me”. He also alleged ‘agents’ of censor board approached him for an amicable settlement, which he did not agree.
A police complaint has been filed by Censor Board member RN Amritharaja against Ameer “for making baseless comments which has degraded the dignity of the censor board”. The buzz is that the censor board will take legal action against Ameer.
